2025 RAM 2500

Recalls, Specs & Safety Report

Expert Verdict
⚠️Elevated Concerns

The 2025 RAM 2500 presents notable reliability concerns with three recalls affecting critical systems, particularly the airbag and electrical components. These flaws could severely jeopardize passenger safety, especially for children seated in the back.

Key Factor:Critical airbag flaws

πŸ“‹Why This Matters

Airbags are a primary safety feature designed to protect occupants in the event of a crash, especially vulnerable passengers like children seated in the back. The identified software errors in the occupant restraint control module mean that these airbags may not deploy when most needed, increasing the risk of serious injury or worse. Similarly, electrical system issues and faulty gear selection displays can lead to dangerous situations on the road, highlighting why these defects are not to be taken lightly. A clean track record is usually expected from RAM, known for its robust engineering and commitment to safety. However, multiple recalls signal potential oversight during manufacturing or software development that could affect real-world performance and safety standards, making it imperative for current owners and buyers alike to stay informed and vigilant.

Official Safety Recalls (3)

Campaign: 25V297000

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:GEAR POSITION INDICATION (PRNDL)

Summary

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 vehicles equipped with a 3.5" cluster and column shifter. A software error may cause the gear selection display to be inaccurate. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 101, "Control and Displays."

Consequence

An inaccurate gear selection display may mislead the driver as to what gear is actually selected, leading to unexpected vehicle movement and increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will update the cluster software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 22, 2025. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 36C.

Additional Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 (TTY 888-275-9171) or go to nhtsa.gov.

Summary

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Ram 1500 Pickup, Ram 2500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Cab Chassis, 4500 Ram Cab Chassis, and Ram 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles. A software error may cause the instrument panel cluster display to be blank. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems," 105, "Hydraulic and Electric Brake Systems," and 102, "Transmission shift lever sequence, starter interlock, and transmission braking effect."

Consequence

An instrument panel display that does not show critical information, such as warning lights or gear selection, increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will inspect and update the instrument panel software or replace the instrument panel cluster, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 8, 2026. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's numbers for this recall are B4C and B8C. AIR BAGS: AIR BAG/RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE

Summary

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2025 Ram 2500 Pickup, 3500 Pickup, 3500 Cab Chassis, 4500 Cab Chassis, and 5500 Cab Chassis trucks. A software error in the occupant restraint controller module may cause the driver's side air bag and/or seat belt pretensioner not to deploy in a crash and disable the electronic stability control (ESC) system. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 208, "Occupant Crash Protection" and 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems."

Consequence

Driving with a disabled electronic stability control system increases the risk of a crash. Additionally, a driver's side air bag or seat belt pretensioner that does not deploy increases the risk of injury in a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will update the occupant restraint controller module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 15, 2026. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is C3C.
