2022 CHRYSLER 300

Recalls, Specs & Safety Report

Expert Verdict
⚠️Elevated Concerns

The 2022 Chrysler 300 shows some concerning reliability due to two recalls related to tire pressure monitoring systems, which are critical for safe driving. The average failure mileage of just 5,000 miles underscores the importance of vigilance in vehicle maintenance.

Key Factor:Tire pressure monitoring issues

πŸ“‹Why This Matters

Defects related to the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) can significantly impact vehicle safety, particularly for families with children in the back seat. An inoperative TPMS means that drivers may not be alerted to under-inflated tires, leading to a higher risk of tire blowouts or loss of control during critical driving moments. For a family car like the Chrysler 300, ensuring that every safety feature functions optimally is vital for protecting young passengers.

βš™οΈEngineering Insight

With peak failures occurring between 0-20k miles and an average failure mileage of only 5,000 miles, current owners should be especially vigilant about monitoring their TPMS functionality early on. This early failure window suggests that issues may arise soon after purchase, necessitating prompt attention.

TIRES:PRESSURE MONITORING AND REGULATING SYSTEMS

Summary

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2022 Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger, and Chrysler 300 vehicles. The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensor battery may fail prematurely and cause the sensor to become inoperative. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 138, "Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems."

Consequence

Inoperative TPMS sensors will not alert the driver to low tire pressure. In addition, a TPMS warning light that is already illuminated from a failed battery sensor will mask an actual tire pressure failure issue. Either of these scenarios can result in tire failure and increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will inspect and replace the TPMS sensors, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 2, 2022. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is Z68.

Additional Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

AIR BAGS

I got into a car accident in 08/28/25 @8:30pm and on impact I was going about 50-55mph and not a single one of my air bags came out. I also know that there are no recalls on my vehicle for air bags.

Just had this problem on my 2019 Chrysler 300. Recall came years after I had it and after I sold it. I got lucky and found out and got a reimbursement for the repair. Recall issued for "faulty Diode on Alternator". Very dangerous b/c the car will just cut out on you when you are trying to accelerate... like crossing a road etc. My 2019 I didn't have long enough to see if it was an issue but now my 2023 Chrysler 300 is doing the same thing. Would not surprise me if it's the same faulty parts for every model. When you accelerate it just putters and loses power. My 2019 I got reimbursed on it had white smoke and ended up burning out another $1000 of electronics that I did NOT get reimbursed for. It's one of those things Idk if they can detect it until it breaks or not.

AIR BAGS

The contact owned a 2022 Chrysler 300S. The contact stated that while driving at 40 MPH, she hit another vehicle that attempted to merge into another lane of traffic. The air bags did not deploy upon impact; as a result, the contact hit her face on the steering wheel. The contact was taken to the hospital where she was treated for the pain in her back, face, and both shoulders. A police report was filed. The contact's vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it remained in their possession. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The contact deemed the vehicle as a total loss. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.

SERVICE BRAKES

I am concerned that a possible safety issue, such as brake failure, with the brake system has gone unrepaired for the past two months. Issues: 1. There is an obvious safety problem with the brakes. 2. The dealer, Chrysler/FCA/Stellantis are not able to repair this problem. The vehicle is available for inspection anytime. We purchased this vehicle brand new on March 31, 2022. The brakes shudder every time upon application especially when going down hill or during a deceleration from high speed. It becomes worse as the brakes heat up. This problem may have always been there but has become worse. The manufacturer's dealer (we bought the auto from this dealer) reproduced the shuddering on September 7, 2022. The service writer stated that brake rotors would be replaced under warranty. Two months later, both the dealer and Chrysler Customer Care claim that the rotors are not available. No date for availability was stated despite my many requests. I am concerned this serious problem can lead to a major accident and has not/cannot be repaired by the manufacturer.
