2022 AUDI A5

Recalls, Specs & Safety Report

Expert Verdict
⚠️Elevated Concerns

The 2022 Audi A5 demonstrates a concerning reliability profile due to two recalls, particularly affecting essential components like back over prevention systems and infotainment. With a peak failure range of 0-20k miles, early intervention is critical for ensuring passenger safety.

Key Factor:Back over prevention issues

πŸ“‹Why This Matters

The issues with the back over prevention system and infotainment are particularly significant. For families with children seated in the back, a malfunctioning rearview camera can create dangerous blind spots while reversing, increasing the risk of accidents. The infotainment unit's failure can also hinder access to critical safety features that rely on visual displays, further compromising safety during operation. A lack of NHTSA complaints indicates that while there hasn't been widespread reporting of issues from current owners, the recalls highlight systemic concerns that still need addressing. This makes it crucial for both current drivers and prospective buyers to stay informed about these defects and their implications for day-to-day driving safety, especially around vulnerable passengers like children.

Summary: The year-over-year safety trend for the Audi A5 is less favorable than expected because of these recalls. While Audi has historically maintained a strong reputation for quality engineering and safety features, the recent recalls indicate an emerging vulnerability in this model that could impact families relying on these vehicles for safe transportation.
