2024 NISSAN Altima

Recalls, Specs & Safety Report

Expert Verdict
⚠️Elevated Concerns

The 2024 Nissan Altima's reliability comes into question due to steering-related recalls, which might lead to significant safety concerns. The average failure mileage of just over 14,000 indicates that potential issues can arise early in the vehicle's life cycle.

Key Factor:Steering control risks

📋Why This Matters

The recall for the 2024 Nissan Altima highlights a critical flaw in the steering system. Loose bolts connecting the electronic power steering unit could result in both loss of steering control and steering lock-up, posing serious safety risks for drivers. Additionally, with a reported average of 29 complaints, it’s clear that these issues have not gone unnoticed by current owners.

Summary: Historically, Nissan has prided itself on producing reliable vehicles; however, the emergence of recalls and numerous complaints for this model year indicates a deviation from that trend. The existence of significant steering defects raises red flags about its overall risk profile compared to previous year models.

This incident happened twice in one week first with 2023 Nissan Sentra then replaced with a 2024 Nissan Altima both rented from Enterprise. I was traveling down the street from my house, a two-lane, steep hillside road, which I’ve traveled up and down for 30 years. I stopped behind a parked car on the right side of the road to let another car come up the hill and pass by before I continued down. As I continued down the hill, the car just began to accelerate and I could not stop it, I tried to break, but no response and the car kept accelerating for about 50 feet before crashing into. the granite hillside, lifting the car so it landed perpendicular to the road, setting off all airbags and blocking all traffic completely. Thankfully there was no other damage to other cars, homes or people, which was a minor miracle. To reach such an impact speed in such short distance suggests some kind of mechanical failure. My insurance paid for a replacement rental, a 2024 Altima and on my first drive down the hill, in the exact same spot, the steepest of the road, the exact thing happened, rapid acceleration and no breaks.

The tire got only 20000 miles the first tire got bubble the other 3 tire after 5000 miles got bubble to on the sidewall. The date on the tire is 0324 . The tire look brand new. But the problem with the side wall looks like air got between the layers of the tire.

Just purchased a pre-owned 2024 Nissan Altima SR mileage 23637. Driving home from the dealership, steering wheel had intermittent vibration which continues to this day. Brought to dealership on September 3, 2025 and they were unable to duplicate problem at that time. Rescheduled new appointment to re-evaluate problem for September 11, 2025. Our safety is compromised by the strong possibility of the collapse of the steering wheel while driving as other recalled Altima cars in 2024 models. Trying to prevent a potential accident and loss of life. Respectfully, concerned driver

SEAT BELTS,SEATS

Rear seatbelt sensors in my 2024 Nissan Altima repeatedly beep and show an unbuckled warning, even when the back seat is unoccupied and with zero belongings. This started around 2 months ago. This causes a distraction while driving and may indicate a malfunctioning occupant detection system.

I have a 2024 Nissan Altima and I have having a problem when I turn that there is a click on the a passenger side. Before I go to the car shop, I believe this may be the recall the was issued for certain vehicles and I would like my car reviewed for the recall. Please advise how I can how my car looked at for the recall. [XXX] , Raleigh NC [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

AIR BAGS

On [XXX], I was involved in a major accident while driving my 2024 Nissan Altima SV. I was traveling at approximately 20 mph when another vehicle hit my vehicle from front right coming at a speed of not less than 80 mph. The impact was significant enough that it totaled my car. The accident took place near [XXX] . Despite the severity of the collision, none of the airbags deployed—including the front and side curtain airbags. I and front passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time. The lack of airbag deployment in a crash of this magnitude presents a serious safety concern and a potential defect in the SRS. The vehicle is still under its original factory warranty, and there were no warning lights or prior faults reported in the airbag system before the crash. This raises serious concerns about the reliability of the vehicle’s safety systems. It is still not yet inspected by Nissan yet. I’m reporting this in the interest of public safety and to urge investigation into the possibility of a defective airbag system in this vehicle. I am also in communication with Nissan, for this. I believe this matter deserves full investigation and potential recall action if other vehicles may be affected.
