2025 MASERATI MC20

Recalls, Specs & Safety Report

Expert Verdict
⚠️Elevated Concerns

The 2025 Maserati MC20 shows a notable reliability concern with the single recall on back over prevention, affecting the rearview image display. Given the peak failure range of 0-20k miles, it is essential for potential buyers to remain vigilant about early issues that may arise.

Key Factor:Back over prevention software issue

πŸ“‹Why This Matters

The recall regarding back over prevention is significant in terms of safety compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. The inability to display the rearview image can increase the risk of accidents while reversing, which is a critical safety feature expected in high-performance luxury vehicles like the Maserati MC20. Given Maserati's engineering reputation during this era for offering superior performance and innovative technology, any lapse in safety can undermine the brand's prestige considerably and affect resale value. In addition, the absence of complaints indicates that, aside from this specific issue, owners have not reported widespread dissatisfaction or failures. This clean slate could be interpreted as a testament to Maserati’s commitment to quality manufacturing despite encountering software-related issues that could impact user experience.

Summary

Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Grecale, 2023-2025 MC20 Cielo, 2024 Granturismo, GranCabrio, 2021-2024 Levante, Ghibli, Quattroporte, and 2022-2025 MC 20 vehicles. The radio software may prevent the rearview image from displaying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Consequence

A rearview camera image that does not display decreases the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

The radio software will be updated over-the-air (OTA) or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 10, 2025. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 740.
