Recalls, Specs & Safety Report

Expert Verdict
⚠️Elevated Concerns

The 2023 Genesis G70 faces reliability challenges due to a critical fuel pump issue that can lead to loss of drive power. With most complaints surfacing within the first 20,000 miles, current and potential owners should be vigilant.

Key Factor:Fuel pump failure risk

📋Why This Matters

A recall related to the fuel system is a significant concern, especially since the fuel pump's failure can leave drivers stranded without warning. This is particularly alarming in a luxury sedan like the Genesis G70, where performance and dependability are expected by owners. While Genesis has generally built its reputation on quality engineering, this defect raises flags about potential long-term reliability and safety.

HEADLIGHTS WITH LOTS OF CONDENSATION. APPARENTLY GENESIS HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THEIR HEADLIGHTS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. HEADLIGHTS GOING OUT DURING THE DAY IS A MINOR CONCERN BUT CAUSING MORE ELECTRICAL ISSUE IN THE VEHICLE IS A MAJOR CONCERN, ALONG WITH HEADLIGHTS GOING OUT AT NIGHT. THERE SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL FOR GENESIS HEADLIGHTS.

There is a constant wheel bearing-type noise that is distractingly audible above ~40mph, and the whine is load and annoying at ~80mph, coming from the rear of the car. There is a constant droning and harmonic pulsating noise that cannot be attenuated with the car's active noise suppression technology, either. It is an otherwise wonderful car, but this whining is going to become more of an issue now that summer is here and the windows will be down. The pitch of the whine increases in frequency as the road speed increases, and right/left steering movements or accelerate/de-accelerate activities don't seem to affect the intensity of the rearend bearing noise. The ever-present noise (our mileage of just over 25k) has grown over the last ~5k miles to be rather unpleasant inside of the cabin, and our current scheduled maintenance visit did not produce a solution for the ever-present noise.

The car randomly goes into LIMP mode when driving in every condition going at any speed, the car has a significant loss of power and needs to be restarted to gain power back. I have almost crashed because of this problem numerous times. Genesis dealership refuses to fix anything because the car doesn't bring back any error codes. This has happened to new and older G70s, there has also been numerous LEMON LAW buy packs under this exact LIMP mode issue being way more prevalent. I have gotten the supposed "fuel pump" recall which is what is directly affecting this issue and the problem persists. Genesis is aware of the issue and extended the dual pump warranty extensively. My car is extremely unsafe at random intervals during my daily commute. This issue is extremely dangerous and could cause a horrific crash. The car basically turns into a slug even when flooring the pedal to try and speed up, this makes merging and changing lanes on these New York highways extremely dangerous. There is an inherent problem with the design of this car in terms of how the fuel pump and fuel pump sensors operate. Genesis is aware of the issue and does nothing to fix it because wait for catastrophic failure of a competent and worse a crash that could result in a fatality.

Dealer did not complete recall while in service Nov 15 2024, service order shows parts are on back order. After 2 months I reached out to Corp who reached out to dealer. Both copr and the dealer ended up calling back just yesterday, however the message from copr stated the part is ordered it's way but the message from the dealer stated software upgrade needs to be done first before ordering parts. But why software upgrade was never done 2 months ago while performing service? I can smell excess gasoline 5 mins after remote started and my thermometer temp spikes significantly upon start. Car has only 12k miles. I am afraid car is going to burn down and they will do everything possible to avoid repair/replacement. I'm hoping this would create a record of historical events as well as poor service performance by the dealer.

I have had my car for almost 6 months and in that time frame twice my car while driving on the highway my car went into limp mode and was not responding. I was unable to accelerate. It was almost like I wasn’t able to control my car. All lights on the dash came on. I recieved DTC error code p061b00. My car so far has 7000 miles on it and I leased it in November 2023. After shutting the car off for a while the car would go back to normal with just the check engine light and and shortly after the check engine light would go away too. I don’t feel comfortable driving my vehicle at this point. Please help with this situation
