2024 CHRYSLER Pacifica

Recalls, Specs & Safety Report

Expert Verdict
⚠️Elevated Concerns

The 2024 Chrysler Pacifica presents a concerning reliability profile, marked by eight recalls that center on critical safety components such as airbags and windshield bonding. With a significant peak failure range of 0-20k miles, attention is warranted for new owners.

Key Factor:Multiple critical recalls

📋Why This Matters

The nature of the defects affecting the Chrysler Pacifica cannot be understated, particularly given the essential role of airbag systems and structural integrity in occupant safety. The recall involving improper airbag deployment due to welding issues poses a serious risk during collisions, while the windshield detachment can further exacerbate injury risks. Such vulnerabilities undermine consumer confidence and highlight an urgent need for scrutiny among both current owners and potential buyers in this competitive segment.

The charging system light came on. My wife went to charge at public charging station due to being close to one. After plugging in the van, it said charging failed. She unplugged the charged went to back up and the van died. Had to have it towed to dealer. Dealer states even though the van is in the warranty period, the IDCM which is up under the van is scuffed and therefore isn’t warrantied. They said there is a big dent in the muffler also so we must have ran over something and caused the damage even though we live in a city with paved streets, a subdivision with paved streets, and have a concrete driveway at our home. They said they have sent me emails with the pictures which I have yet to recieve. I went to the dealer and asked them to jack up my van so I can see the damage personally and they don’t have a lift available at the time, so I told them I would be back in town at a certain time from work and to call me so I could see it and they have yet to show me the scuffed IDCM module or the dented muffler. We haven’t run over anything to cause this kind of damage to a module like this because all the hybrid batteries are under the van. If the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is so cheaply made for a $62,000 vehicle that something can “scuff” a module housing and shut a vehicle down, this is potentially very dangerous if someone were driving on the highway if it were to shutdown and someone (including myself or any of my family) were driving and lose all propulsion and steering (because it’s electric steering) or worse braking! It could be catastrophic with people dying. This needs to be investigated to see how fragile this component is and if they need to “toughen” it up or re-locate it. Versus trying to get by and get around paying warranty claims or hoping nothing happens until the units break down after the warranty period not knowing of the Safety hazard they have created for their vehicle owners and the driving public.

I was driving the vehicle as normal when all of a sudden a message appeared and the engine shut down. The message was "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon". It brought my speed down to 10 mph and I had to pull off the side of the road. This is now the 3rd time it has happened. We have brought it into the dealership previously and both times they said that they were not able to find the issue and since the message went away, we could proceed with driving the vehicle as normal. I have 3 little kids and we often drive on the highway and I no longer feel safe in my car. I know there is an open investigation for model years 2017-2023, but unfortunately ours is a 2024 so is not in that investigation.

WHEELS

The contact owns a 2024 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while attempting to make a left or right turn, there was an abnormal sound coming from the front driver’s side wheel. The contact stated that while attempting to depress the brake pedal, the vehicle made the same sound. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the wheel hub was loose and needed to be replaced. The wheel hub was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 15,000.

The vehicle was sold with a “minor accident” reported, but the condition suggests the damage may have been more significant. After purchase, I discovered the rear seatbelt did not work and required interior panels to be removed and replaced. A non-working seatbelt points to possible prior impact or structural damage affecting the restraint system. The vehicle also has an active safety recall for the side curtain airbags. The combination of a recall and a failed seatbelt raises concern that the vehicle may have been in a more severe collision than reported or repaired incorrectly. A failed seatbelt is a major safety hazard and should not be present at sale. The defect was confirmed by the dealer’s service department, and the vehicle has been in their possession since November 10, 2025. No warning lights appeared; the issue was found only when trying to use the seatbelt.

When I tried to start my Pacifica I got a clicking sound like the battery was almost dead. I tried again and a very loud pop came from the area above the driver side around the top left windshield or possibly the air bag area. All the electric doors failed to operate. The car did not start. I snapped pictures of the instrument cluster. The motor LED came on, the "Auto Park Not Engaged" came on. The engine start button showed RUN. All 5 gear shifter LED were on "P R N D L". Both outside mirror blind spot indicators were on. I was trying to go to a doctor's appointment so I tried lifting the battery cable under the hood to reboot the computer. That worked and all returned to to normal. This malfunction has happened twice in the past month. The second one happened 11/4/2025. Photographed images are available upon request.

CRASH INFO - 12:50 am, 2024. 2024 Chrysler Pacifica Touring L Components failed: Airbags non-deployed; Steering Control Module; TCS System; Fwd Collision Avoidance & Lane Departure; + Not avail to inspect. Car sold at auction. Obtained Black Box & OBD info. Car owned by EAN Holdings, LLC. - Enterprise RAC. Problem not reproduced, car not drivable after crash. Did not notice any warning lamps, too busy trying to keep car on road. My wife was heading home after some late-night shopping when crash occurred on 2-lane dry & clean asphalt country road. Weather was a cool and clear moonlit night. Posted speed limit 45mph. With her headlights on she could see very well far up ahead & knew her surroundings, where the roadside became grass on the left, & a drainage ditch to the right side. She chose out of caution to drive near the center line in the roadway to give ample distance between the passenger side of the car and the soft shoulder to the right. Approx. 150 ft before she approached the turn to the left, she felt a sudden & very intense TUG from the right rear wheel. This caused the car to jerk out of control, shoving its back end to the right. It was impossible to correct the vehicle's course & what the car decided to do on its own accord. The car then proceeded to yank the steering wheel hard to the right (while she fought to keep the car turning left), and it forced her off the right shoulder of the paved road, across a 3-foot soft shoulder on the passenger side of her car. The car continued traveling off the road and over a gravel and corrugated drainpipe, landing her in a deep 5-6' irrigation ditch, and abruptly stopped on an uphill slant, making contact with a small sapling tree/weeds. The ride was so violent from all the jarring & bouncing that everything inside the car was flying around like in a front-loading washing machine. She had to exit via the back pass side door. Airbags did not deploy & car required towing. By the Grace of God, she did not die!

We purchased our 2024 Pacifica Pinnacle AWD new in July of 2024. The vehicle currently has 9,600 miles on it, and the issue has been present since it was new. We have experienced continuous issues while driving the vehicle at highway speeds, with the steering exhibiting a gap in responsiveness. The steering acts like there is a dead zone between 11 and 1 o'clock when turning the wheel, where nothing happens. Once the vehicle finally reacts to the driver's inputs, it causes the car to jerk from side to side. It is bad enough that it causes my entire family to become carsick during even short trips. Still, my primary concern is that the steering is not responsive, and if the issue worsens or changes, it could lead to a loss of control over the vehicle. In addition, the jerking caused by this may cause loss of control when traveling in inclement weather or icy conditions. We took the vehicle in for diagnosis, assuming an alignment issue, but the dealership verified the alignment was within the manufacturer's requirements. In addition, the dealership told us, "This is just how the Pacifica drives. All of them have this issue with the steering". Today, I came across an investigation into a similar issue with older model Pacificas, and I believe this is not only the same issue but also warrants investigation of all model year Pacificas. There were multiple comments within the forum post of owners experiencing this issue in newer vehicles than the current investigation. Please consider expanding your investigation to all model years. Thank you.
