STRUCTURE:BODY

Summary

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Jaguar) is recalling certain 2017-2018 and 2020 Jaguar XE vehicles that received a replacement rear rail assembly as part of a service repair. Missing spot welds may weaken the structural strength of the rear rail assembly.

Consequence

The weakened rear rail assembly may allow the rear bumper beam to detach when the vehicle is being towed or the tow-bar assembly to detach when towing a trailer. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Jaguar will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rear rail assembly, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed May 7, 2021. Owners may contact Jaguar customer service at 1-800-452-4827. Jaguar's number for this recall is H349.

Additional Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA

Summary

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Jaguar) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Jaguar XE vehicles. Due to wiring damage in the trunk, the rearview camera image may not appear on the display.

Consequence

A rearview camera that does not display an image can reduce the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will inspect and repair, or replace the rearview camera wiring harness, as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed March 3, 2025. A second letter is anticipated sometime in Q4 2025. Owners may contact Jaguar's customer service at 1-800-452-4827. Jaguar's number for this recall is H535. This recall replaces and expands previous recall number 23V-501. Vehicles already repaired under recall 23V-501 will need to have the new remedy completed.

Additional Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to nhtsa.gov.

While driving on the highway at normal operating speeds, the vehicle suddenly lost power, and the accelerator pedal became completely unresponsive, preventing me from maintaining speed or safely exiting the roadway. This created a severe safety hazard, as I was unable to maneuver or pull off to avoid fast-moving traffic. Immediately after, I attempted to shift the vehicle into β€œPark,” but received an on-screen message stating that the transmission was not in Park, even though the shifter was physically in the Park position. The gear selector became disabled, and I was unable to shift into any gear. Despite applying the emergency parking brake, the vehicle continued to roll on its own, presenting a serious risk of collision or injury. There were no warning lights, messages, or alerts prior to or during the failure. I had no indication that a critical fault was occurring. The vehicle was later towed to a dealership. Upon inspection, a certified JLR technician discovered faulty wiring in the gear shifter assembly, which had caused a short circuit that disabled the gear selector, the Transmission Control Module (TCM), the Engine Control Unit (ECU), and the gearbox inside the transmission.
