The 2021 Jaguar I-PACE presents several electrical issues that potential owners should keep a close eye on. The high-voltage battery overheating and defrosting problems can lead to significant safety concerns and inconveniences for drivers.

Safety Alert
Safety Alert: This model has a higher recall frequency (5) than the average JAGUAR vehicle (1.7). Owners should prioritize checking these components.

πWhy This Matters
Electrical system failures can greatly affect your driving experience, especially in an electric vehicle where reliance on components like the traction battery is critical. The I-PACE's recalls related to insufficient pedestrian warning sounds and defrosting problems could lead to safety hazards or even accidents if not addressed properly. While Jaguar typically boasts a reputation for luxury and engineering prowess, these issues detract from an otherwise well-engineered vehicle. A clean sheet would have been impressive, but with these recalls, potential buyers should proceed with caution.
In addition to the recalls, the Technical Service Bulletins indicate ongoing issues with HVAC functionality and passive entry systems that may not respond as intended. These complications can be frustrating and could potentially leave drivers stranded if they occur unexpectedly or frequently in the early stages of ownership, particularly within the peak failure range of 0-20k miles.
