STRUCTURE

The electronically-activated hood release, latching mechanism on my 2024 Chevrolet Corvette VIN 1G1YA2D42R5116964 has been repeatedly malfunctioning since August, 2025. The hood either pops open of its own accord or it will not close securely, leaving the occupants of the vehicle to speculate if the hood will spontaneously open blinding the driver in traffic.

Steering/Suspension🔶 Medium
WHEELS

From the day the vehicle was delivered, all four tires were losing air daily. No disclosure of punctures or defects was made by the dealership. After one week, a tire went flat and I purchased new replacement tires. Multiple shops, including Costco, refused to install the tires because they did not have equipment capable of working with carbon fiber wheels. A specialized exotic-car shop (Enzo Auto Center) attempted the installation. During the process, one of the carbon fiber wheels spontaneously ruptured/exploded, causing multiple fractures to the technician’s hand and arm. He required emergency medical treatment. After the incident, even an authorized Chevrolet dealership was unable to mount the tires, indicating a possible manufacturing or structural defect in the wheel assembly. The vehicle has now been inoperable for more than 2 months, and the dealership has not provided a resolution. This is a severe safety hazard, involving: catastrophic wheel failure, structural integrity concerns, risk of further injuries, and total loss of vehicle usability. An immediate investigation is requested.

On August 1st, my '24 Z06 unexpectedly caught fire after a short evening of driving — 7 miles to dinner, 7 miles to a store, then 2 miles to drop my wife off at the grocery store. I was heading to refuel when the fire started. The car was in Sport Mode, so the fans were running. Thankfully, we were able to put it out. GM sent three inspectors, including an independent expert who noted that most fire cases he sees result in the car being reduced to a blob. On August 28, Scott Bell (VP of Global Chevrolet) told our dealer he would expedite a replacement. We placed the order — but the following week, GM reversed course, claiming the fire was caused by "non-car material" and not their responsibility. Meanwhile, our insurance company determined the fire originated from the gas vent system. They’ll cover the damage (9,000), but not the cause — leaving us to pay 1,000 out-of-pocket for the vent system. No safety lights were indicated while driving, or even after the fire (it still starts). The car is in the process of being repaired, so probably no longer available to inspect. I, as the insurance company, believe this is related to the recall on this car

Per recall NHTSA ID Number: 25V536000 GM dealers still have No notice of this recall and known corrective actions to fix this fire risk. I’ve called several local dealerships in my area for the past several weeks to have vehicle repaired with zero help! These dealerships had to stop the sales of their z06/zr1 inventory until this issue was resolved which they have because they are now selling them but keep stating NO notice from GM is on file of corrective action to resolve fire risk on the vehicles privately owned that are affected.

AIR BAGS

Vehicle was hit on driver side/a column. Head hit window. No side air bag deployed. Vehicle is getting repaired at body shop. My son received a concussion; neck pain; numbness in hand. Vehicle inspected by insurance company. Police report available; other driver cited for careless driving. Vehicle hit so hard it was pushed onto sidewalk adjacent to roadway.

AEB came standard on my 2024 Corvette. It has never worked since the day I bought it [XXX]. The selling dealer, Service Chevrolet in Lafayette La. worked on it and GM said all systems checked OK. BUT THE AEB STILL DID NOT WORK. GM suggested another GM dealer try to fix it. The second GM dealer reported GM techs would not recommend anything because system tested OK. BUT AEB STILL DID NOT WORK. Third trip to original dealer same result-system tested OK so they did nothing BUT THE AEB STILL DOES NOT WORK. There is obviously a defect in the system and GM refuses to find it. I suspect this is just the tip of the AEB iceberg for GM. GM would rather stick their head in the sand than face the real problem they are facing. SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

2024 Corvette included AEB. Window sticker shows AEB included. Build code shows AEB in build. Car one month old 650 miles. The sales dealership and second GM dealership communications with GM tech reads system as OK. BUT DOES NOT WORK. GM system tech says system reads OK BUT THE AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING HAS NEVER ASSISTED OAR APPLIED ONE OUNCE F BRAKES SINCE I BOUGHT IT 12/06/2024. I reported to GM consumer complaints and they keep reading from a script "if system check says vehicle is performing to specs, etc." BUT THE VEHICLE IS NOT PERFORMING TO SPECS. The AEB is not working at all. GMs refusal to address the problem is completly unsafe and unacceptable.

Brakes🔶 Medium
WHEELS,SERVICE BRAKES

Front wheels are defective confirmed by certified GM dealership which causes unsafe operation of vehicle. Even though wheels are in pristine condition GM will not cover replacement wheels under their warranty. I spoke with GM about the service bulletins they put out regarding the 2020&2021 castings issues with those wheels causing the same complaints however GM still won’t cover their apparent manufacturer’s issues with faulty wheel castings. Installing replacement OEM wheels from GM still will cause a significant safety issue with the vehicles irregular wear if tires and steering issues with these oblong wheels. No warning system notifications were prompted by the vehicle just a significant front end vibration also verified by GM corvette technician. Technician video taped wheels on a wheel balancing machine where it is visually apparent they are oblong. Purchasing aftermarket forged wheels that come with a full warranty instead of using the OEM GM wheels which are still clearly defective and will cause safety issues to include a possible loss of life with this issue they won’t even look into or take responsibility. Also rear brakes made a thumping noise after washing vehicle and parking it with the emergency brake set. Vehicle was looked at by corvette technician in conjunction with above stated wheel issue. GM corrected issue by tech driving vehicle for unspecified amount of time and called it repaired under their guidelines. No replacement of rotor, brake pads, calipers or any other part associated with this issue stated by customer service representative. I was told to not use the emergency brake or problem could arise again. I insisted that there is an issue with the braking system and wanted replacement parts installed under the manufacturers warranty but was denied and told No issue exists. EBrake is provided on vehicles as a safety mechanism and there is a significant problem with this system on this vehicle that GM won’t take responsibility!

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

When driving, car will falsely and intermittently get random error codes on BUS module; resulting in a false FRUNK or Front Latch Service warning under Body Control Module code B1A5F or U164F for gateway. Chevy has found electrical connectors for car built in Nov/Dec 2023 which have plastic or bits inside the connectors making the electrical system have issues. However, even after addressing those faulty connectors they now think its also related to bad software. No resolution after 8 months of attempted repairs, and Chevy forums show other people with the BUS errors around same build time of end 2023. If you are driving car when these errors randomly pop in or out, the car will go into reduced power and speed limit of 25 MPH as it thinks the front trunk latch is open (when its closed). If on a highway, this can result in death or major accident. Multiple safety concerns go unaddressed by Chevy since early 2024 reports of issues.

VISIBILITY/WIPER

My 2024 Chevrolet Convertible has a safety issue with the Rear Vision Camera display. It has a severe reddish tint that blurs images when backing up but only when dark. Pictures attached. Is this truly normal? I wouldn’t think GM would engineer a safety issue and this is an aberration on my vehicle. Should be camera be moved? I really love the car, but this prevents me from using it at safely at night. Picture attached.
